If we are lucky, most of us have 30,000 days in our lives.
In 1993, I celebrated my 45th birthday, 16,450 days gone by.
Over half my life in the record book but still half of my life ahead of me.
It was on that day that I opened a new door and set out in the world to change who I was. I left a high salary and unhappy attorney position and started to build a business that would challenge me in every possible way. It still does. I was also lucky in that year to find a true partner in life that would also challenge me in every possible way. She still does.
Barbara is so different from me and yet we are both better because of it. At least I am. She was always perfect. When I met her, she was already a world class traveler. More than just a tourist, Barbara embraced adventure. She was passionate about going to places less traveled. She had already hiked to Mt. Everest Base Camp, traveled in South India and hiked in Peru and Bolivia. She spoke four languages and had already seen half of the world.
At that point in my life a week on a cruise ship was my definition of an adventure. With Barbara, my definition of adventure travel was redefined. At times, painfully redefined. Like sleeping in a tent for 10 straight days in freezing weather as we hiked to the base camp of the 3rd tallest mountain in the world in Eastern India. Or hiking 112 miles around Mount Blanc in Europe. I still remember the blisters.
We have spent the last 23 years exploring and experiencing the world. It has been an amazing time. I would not change a single minute. We will continue our journeys until the days we are given end. We would like to share with our family and friends some of those past days and adventures spent traveling the world.
Some of those wonderful and beautiful days.
We have been very lucky.
